Abrasives for processing of metal surfaces, glass , plastics, stone itp.

Glass Microgrit – used in the preparation of metal surfaces; glass, stone, plastics

Wet or dry treatment with glass microgrit is usually carried out in pneumatic devices in closed circulation. Glass microgrit may be widely used in various branches of industry for the processes of cleaning, refining or strengthening of processed surfaces. Processing may be applied to both metal (steel, non-ferrous metals) as well as non-metal surfaces (glass, stone, plastics).

Cleaning with glass microgrit

Cleaning is the most frequently and widely applied method of processing with the use of glass microgrit. This product seems perfect for periodic, repeated processes of cleaning of a surface due to such advantages as:

1. Maintaining precisely specified tolerances, minimal erosive abrasion - approximately 1/40 of abrasion in relation to corundum of the same  granulation.
2. Processing is fast, clean and economic.
3. High efficiency of cleaning - about 8m2 / h to the highest degree of the preparation of the surface. Low consumption of abrasive. Consumption of about 3,5 kg / m2.(pressure of 4,5 bars and a 10mm nozzle, glass microgrit passes about 20 to 30 times in closed circulation).

Additional cost-lowering factors:

  • Smaller volume of abrasive for transportation
  • Smaller amount of waste
  • Secondary cleaning with acid is unnecessary.

Chemical neutrality eliminates the formation of inclusions (incrustation).
Cleaning processing with glass microgrit replaces brushing, polishing, tearing off, washing. It is perfect for cleaning of sensitive surfaces. It is applied for removing: - residues (scales after welding, colour coating, oxides of metals, molding sand, old adhesives, stains, etc.) - coating (varnish, paint, chrome, nickel, cadmium, zinc, tin, gum, artificial materials).

Examples of cleaning
- various molds in industries dealing with rubber, plastics, glazier and metal; - cleaning of engine blocks, piston tops, connecting rods and other elements in automotive industry; - periodic cleaning of steam and gas turbines (blades, rings), - heavy and light fixtures, tools (files, cutters, drils), threads, rack wheels; - cleaning corrosion from weapons and ammunition in the defense industry; - cleaning of electric brushes, joints and terminals to improve conductivity; - cleaning after electro-cutter and thermo-chemical processing.

Refining with glass microgrit
Glass microgrit is used for preparing and finishing of surfaces in:

  •  final - cosmetic works, especially used for stainless steels and non-ferrous metals ( aluminium, copper, bronze...); e.g.: standardize or decorative matting of surfaces (satin, pearl), anti-reflection matting, matting to remove marks of other processings and the light damages on the surfaces;
  •  in preparatory works, when a high quality of metal base is required: before putting paint coating (pulverized or liquid), before galvanizing or other chemical or mechanical application of metal coating.

Cut steel shot and cast-iron shot

Used for cleaning of metal elements, in chambers with closed circulation of abrasive material. It practically does not undergo breaking. It unreels the surface very well, improving the adhesion of paint coverings. Due to the considerable mass of grains and their large kinetic energy, this product is not suitable for processing of light-wall elements and elements produced from soft materials.

Stainless shot

These abrasives may be used with any type of blasting machine. They are characteristic for their long life-span. That is why, despite their higher price, stainless shot is much more efficient. Scarce formation of ashes during the process of shot-blasting protects blasting machines, particulary their filters from excessive wear. Applying stainless shot for cleaning of casts and other products made of Al,Cu,Zn as well as from steels and highly-alloyed cast irons has become a norm.
